About us · Albany, Auckland

We provide for all aspects of structural engineering design work

Lough Associates was founded in 2018 by Steve Lough, previous director of Lewis and Williamsonand Lough Downey Ltd.

From our Albany base, Lough Associates can carry out structural design on projects throughout New Zealand, from small domestic size buildings to large multi-million dollar commercial and civic developments.

The engineers at Lough Associates take ownership of their work. We like to stay involved in a project, from preliminary design right through to construction observation, and eventual sign-off. Ever ready to respond to on-site situations, we work closely with contractors to maintain projected costs and timeframes.

What we do

Our specialisation

Three areas carry most of the practice — private dwellings and commercial developments, community and sports facilities, and the assessment and seismic upgrading of existing buildings.

Private dwelling with exposed structural elements01

Residential & commercial

We have a broad experience designing private dwellings and commercial developments. We strive to provide practical solutions and have the calibre necessary to take on the most challenging of projects.

Educational & sports facilities

Our engineers have provided structural design for many prominent community facilities such as Millennium Institute of Sport and Health complex and the EIT Sports Park in Hawkes Bay.

Masonry church building undergoing seismic strengthening03

Seismic strengthening

We have been involved with the seismic upgrading of many small to medium sized buildings. We have also completed detailed engineering assessments on some of Auckland's larger buildings.
